Several of Natchez's historic mansions are available to tour throughout the year but nearly 30 of the antebellum mansions, most of them private residences, open their doors to visitors during the city's Fall and Spring Pilgrimages. Guides are costumed friends and descendants of the original owners and each house is unique with 18th and 19th century furnishings, porcelain, silver, clothing, tools, documents and diaries.
Natchez visitors wishing to visit the haunted sites of the city can join this one-hour driving tour. Tours are by appointment only and depart in the evening to visit the downtown district's spookier places and the Natchez Cemetery. Tickets available at the Natchez Visitor Center.
Natchez groups or visitors interested in a custom tour can enlist the services of Southern Belle Custom Tours. Tours are narrated passenger tours of Natchez and the surrounding area, and are customized to fit individual interests such as local heritage, plantation history, antebellum mansions, city history, etc.
The History Tour is a narrated passenger tour that operates several times a day and gives visitors a view of the downtown district from the beginnings of Natchez - including the early days of the Natchez Indians - to the present. Tours last approximately one hour and tickets can be arranged at the Visitors Center.
